Questions
What jewelers ask.
Do I need a Shopify store?
No. It doesn’t connect to anything. It works for a shop with tags, a market stall, an Etsy store or your own website, because you type the pieces in and you change the prices yourself.
Will it change my prices for me?
No. It tells you which pieces to change and what to change them to. You decide, change the price where you sell, and tap Done so it starts counting from today.
How does it work out the new price?
It takes the metal in the piece when you last priced it and the metal in it today, then adds the difference times your own markup on metal. Stones and your labor stay as they were in your price. It rounds up to the next $5.
What if I can’t remember when I last priced something?
Pick the closest month. We have the average price of gold, silver and platinum for every month since 1960, so a rough month still gives you a fair answer.
Which metals does it cover?
10k, 14k, 18k, 22k and 24k gold, 14/20 gold-filled, sterling and fine silver, and platinum 950. Weights can be in grams or pennyweights.
Is this what my supplier will charge me?
No. These are market prices. Your supplier adds to them, so use it to see how far metal has moved since you priced a piece, not as a quote.
How much is it?
$19 a month. The first 7 days are free and no card is needed. Cancel at any time. It’s sold to businesses only.
Where do the numbers come from?
Today’s prices come from gold-api.com, read every morning. Past months come from the World Bank’s monthly commodity prices (Source: World Bank Commodity Price Data, The Pink Sheet). They’re market prices, not your supplier’s invoice, and tagsmith.online doesn’t forecast anything or give investment advice.
